Chandra Nalaar

A Human Planeswalker who uses Red Mana and specializes in pyromancy.

There's no virtue in subtlety—at least not as far as the fire-mage Chandra Nalaar is concerned. Impulsive, passionate, and short-tempered, she's as ready to explode as the pyromantic spells of her ever-growing repertoire. Chandra's spark ignited when she was still quite young, and as she has grown, so have her abilities as a wielder of fire magic and as a planeswalker. Somewhere in these years of growth, she was tutored at an institution founded by none other than Jaya Ballard, where she fell into a conflict with an interplanar heiromancy organization and a scroll which led her to an immense source of power on the plane of Zendikar

As a source of immense and unpredictable power, authority figures have sought to restrict and control Chandra, which comes into direct conflict with her need for independence and freedom. As Chandra's wild inner fire comes in contact with world after world of rules and strictures, the results are sure to be explosive.

It is revealed that on a distant plane, there is a prophecy concerning Chandra and how she will shape that plane. (Chandra Nalaar, Chandra Ablaze, Chandra, the Firebrand)

(Crosis, the Purger) (Invasion)

Crovax

A nobleman of Urborg, who later became Evincar of Rath. Long ago the Weatherlight crew had brought the strange nobleman Crovax home to his family estate in the Urborg Swamps to do battle with two of Volrath’s evil servants, Gallowbraid and Morinfen. The ship had departed once Crovax summoned Selenia – a guardian angel – and defeated Volrath’s servants. Crovax eventually fell in love with Selenia and freed her from magical servitude. Selenia mysteriously vanished at the same time Sisay is abducted by Volrath. The Weatherlight crew seek Crovax out to gain his help, since only he can sense where Selenia is, in journeying to Rath to rescue Sisay. When the Weatherlight arrives in the Urborg Swamps they find Crovax’s noble family destroyed by the forces of Volrath. Crovax, who also just had returned, is brought to the edge of his sanity, being left the sole survivor. Believing himself to be cursed, Crovax eagerly joins the Weatherlight on its journey to Volrath’s realm, hoping that there he might find salvation from his plight. As the Weatherlight arrives in Rath to rescue Sisay, they are immediately attacked by the Predator, guided by the dark angel Selenia who was fully under Volrath’s influence. After encountering Selenia again in Volrath's Stronghold, Crovax attacked her, weeping for all he had lost. Sobbing, she defended herself and deliberately allowed one of Crovax's wild swings to strike her. After that she exploded in a burst of broken shards of glass that swirled around Crovax and forces its way into his body. Selenia's destiny is fulfilled: Crovax's curse is set in motion, and he is ultimately condemned for killing all that he loves. He collapses onto Selenia's sword and grows as pale as death – but his breathing continues, as he changes into a vampire. Crovax felt his mind collapse – the curse had been fulfilled. Later Crovax became completely sociopathic and evil. He is then depicted in killing Mirri, the Cat Warrior. He was taken to Phyrexia and completed, becoming even more of a killer and gaining the ability to increase his power by consuming any living creature's essence. Crovax staked his claim as the new evincar of Rath. Crovax was eventually confronted by Volrath, newly returned from the plane of Mercadia. After defeating Volrath with the aid of the corrupted Ertai, Belbe chose him to become the new Evincar of Rath. Crovax entered Dominaria during the second stage of the Phyrexian Invasion, when Volrath's Stronghold overlayed the area near Crovax's estate in Urborg. Shortly before the Apocalypse, Crovax was killed by Gerrard Capashen. His spirit is believed to have been taken to the afterlife by Selenia. (Crovax the Cursed, Ascendant Evincar) (Tempest, Nemesis)

In Planar Chaos, a different Crovax is shown. This Crovax is from an alternate reality, in which Mirri slew Selenia before Crovax could. The result of this timeline is that Mirri was cursed, and after her death she was resurrected with the Angel's dark spirit, and tried to attack and kill Crovax and the rest of the Weatherlight crew. They managed to escape her (Keen Sense), leaving the cat warrior with the angel's curse and leading Crovax to become Crovax, Ascendant Hero.
